Meet Our Doctors

Kathleen NelsDr. Nelson - Kalispell OB/GYNon, MD joined Kalispell OBGYN in 1995, practicing with her father, Dr. Van Kirke Nelson, who established Kalispell OB/GYN in 1962. She has been practicing as a board certified OB/GYN for the past 17 years. Having grown up in Kalispell, she attended undergraduate school at Stanford University, received her medical degree from The University of Washington and completed her residency at The University of Wisconsin.

Dr. Nelson enjoys practicing general obstetrics and gynecology, with a special interest in minimally invasive, robotic and vaginal surgery, in-office sterilization (Essure) and endometrial ablation procedures, as well as menopause management.  She is the past Montana Section Chairman for ACOG, the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology and past Chairman of the Obstetrics Dept at Kalispell Regional Medical Center – KRMC.  She currently serves on various other boards at KRMC.

Dr.Nelson, her husband, Chris Sauve, and 2 daughters love living in the Flathead Valley.

Dr. Jonas - Kalispell OB/GYNGwenda C. Jonas, MD is a board certified OB/GYN who has practiced with Kalispell OB/GYN since 2001. Prior to moving to Flathead Valley, she was in private practice for 4 years in Phoenix, AZ and was an Associate Clinical Professor for the University of Arizona School of Medicine.

Dr. Jonas received her undergraduate degree from University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee and her medical degree from the University of Alabama. She completed her residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ.

 She has served as Chief of Staff of Kalispell Regional Medical Center, as a Kalispell Regional HealthCare Board member and has served on numerous committees at KRMC, including Medical Ethics and Mass Casualty.

 Dr. Jonas specializes in obstetrics and gynecology, including in-office sterilization (Essure) and endometrial ablation procedures. She also has a special interest in infertility and minimally invasive and robotic surgery.

 Dr. Jonas and her husband, Dr. Ken Jonas, are delighted to call Kalispell their home.

Dr. Lavin - Kalispell OB/GYN

Dr. Lavin is a KRMC employed physician practicing at Kalispell OB/GYN

Dr. John Lavin started his career in family practice 33 years ago.  He was in solo OB/GYN practice in Kalispell before joining Kalispell OB/GYN in 2004.  While he continues to practice at this location, he is currently employed by Kalispell Regional Medical Center.  In addition to his OB/GYN practice, he participates in teaching the University of Washington medical students during their rotations here.

He is a board certified OB/GYN, having received his medical degree from the University of Nevada Medical School.  He was in a rural family practice in Powell, Wyoming before joining a group family practice in Kalispell.  Then in 1989 he returned to University of Colorado to pursue his OB/GYN specialty training.

Dr. Lavin loves to deliver babies, help women with pelvic pain or abnormal bleeding and encourage them to maintain good health.  He also enjoys mentoring the medical students who come to KRMC.

Dr. Lavin and his wife, Anita, have seven children and 2 grandchildren.  They love the people of Montana and are blessed to call Kalispell their home.

Dr. deHoop - Kalispell OB/GYN

Dr. deHoop is a KRMC employed physician practicing at Kalispell OB/GYN

Dr. deHoop moved to Kalispell from Cincinnati, OH in 2011 to join Kalispell Regional Medical Center and practice with Kalispell OB/GYN.

Dr. DeHoop attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and completed his internship there as well.  He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and remained there for 16 years as an Associate Professor of obstetrics and gynecology before deciding to move to the Flathead Valley.

While in Cincinnati, Dr. deHoop was named among “Best Doctors in America” and “Best Doctors in Cincinnati” since 2006, as well as being recognized with several teaching awards from the College of Medicine and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics.

He practices general obstetrics and gynecology, with a special interest in robotic and minimally invasive surgery.  He came to Kalispell with more than five years of experience using the daVinci®  robotic surgery system.

Dr. deHoop has family ties to the Flathead Valley and completed a rotation here during his medical school training in the early 1990’s. Since then, he had made it his goal to one day return to Northwest Montana for private practice.  He and his wife, Betty, have three sons.


Dr. Jenna Huff - Kalispell OB/GYN

Dr. Huff is a KRMC employed physician practicing at Kalispell OB/GYN

Dr. Jenna Huff will join the staff of Kalispell Regional Medical Center and practice with Kalispell OB/GYN starting in October 2017.  She attended medical school at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and did her residency at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio. For 4 years following that, she practiced obstetrics and gynecology in Loveland, Colorado.

Dr. Huff is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She specializes in normal and high-risk obstetrics, contraception management, abnormal bleeding and minimally invasive surgery, including robotics. She enjoys caring for women throughout their life, from puberty through childbearing years and then through menopause, and strives to develop a supportive relationship with her patients.  She believes in educating women and helping them make the best possible decisions to improve their quality of life.

Dr. Huff is a Montana native and she, her husband and three young children are excited to be moving back to Montana to be near family.  They enjoy everything that the Flathead Valley has to offer.
